I’ve been told my hair is a bit of a melting pot. It’s Jewish curls, Japanese straightened for years, with a Brazilian  Keratin treatment thrown in for good measure a few times a year.Perhaps it was time to throw another corner of the world into the mix. I’ve heard that in Turkey, some women get styled twice a day, and a hairdresser is forced to become something of a generalist –  an expert with a hair dryer, coloring, scissors, and even nail care. So, when I was invited to visit
(Sanat means “art” in Turkish), I was excited. He is from Turkey and a 2nd-gen hair expert — so I knew he’d be on top of his game when he offered to give me a Brazilian Keratin formaldehyde-free treatment, I was EXTRA ready – my Japanese relaxer is a few months old, and those tel-tale frizzy roots had begun to rear their ugly (literally) head.(Note: I think curls are beautiful. Just not MY curls.)We had a great time – in the hour I visited, we chatted about hair history (as in mine) and the salon and the popularity of the treatment. I was given a special formula for blondes – and since then, all my friends have said my hair has a vibrancy and shine they hadn’t seen in ages. But, more importantly? I am back to blowing out  my hair in under 10 minutes – and having it straight and soft. It’s a dream come true — and a new addiction in the works!
